The Story

A Note Before the Story
To every child around the world:
after the night, the morning remains.

Under the Night Sky

Molly stood in her garden under the quiet night sky.
The moon hung bright and round above the soft clouds.
Suddenly a carpet on the grass began to glow.
“Hello,” it whispered. “Would you like to fly?”
Molly’s eyes grew wide with wonder.
She stepped on, and the carpet rose into the air.

Soaring Through the Stars
Higher and higher they soared through the cool night air.
The world below looked small and peaceful.
Molly laughed as the wind brushed her hair.
“Where shall we go?” asked the carpet.
“Somewhere full of colour,” Molly replied.
The carpet turned and glided toward the east.

The Basket of Fruits
They landed in a sunny orchard just as dawn began to blush.
In the middle of the grass sat a large basket of fruits.
Red apples, golden pears, and juicy oranges shone inside.
Molly picked one up and took a happy bite.
“These are the sweetest I have ever tasted,” she said.
The carpet smiled and waited patiently beside her.

The Special Card
For the kind heart who flies at night.

Under the basket lay a small, pretty card.
On the front was a picture of the moon and stars.
Molly turned it over carefully.
The back read: “For the kind heart who flies at night.”
She held the card close and felt warm inside.
“Thank you,” she whispered to the orchard.

Home Again

The carpet carried Molly home as the sky turned pink.
She stepped down onto the cool morning grass.
The carpet folded itself neatly and grew still.
Molly looked at the card and smiled.
“What a wonderful adventure,” she said softly
And the first light of morning quietly held her.
